Christmas Lead-Up
Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 01:38PM Man I am so behind in sharing December's photos already! Not a good way to start the year. But because there were so many fun ones, I'll start with the ones before the big day. :)
The Saturday before Christmas, Sarah and her roommate Sara came up for our big cookie bake-off. Before they got there, while we were doing some decorating I decided to decorate the dogs too. :)
I found this hilarious Santa hat and beard combo in the Dollar Spot at Target!

That dog will break your heart, seriously. The beard broke before I could put it on Dante (that's the Dollar Spot for ya!), so he got a jingle collar instead:

Ted got jealous of Dante's finery so I put it on him too...

Then the girls arrived - including Roseann - and we got cracking!

We made snickerdoodles, Norwegian gingerbread, sugar cookies with Hershey kisses (I forget what they're called), spritz and the Pioneer Woman's Favorite Christmas Cookies. Except we got tired by those so we didn't do the white icing, just the coloring. :)
Mom picked up the camera for a couple of cute (if somewhat blurry) photos:

Mmmm snickerdoodles...one of my favorites!!

Roseann made Eirik a giant snickerdoodle, which turned out perfectly!

We girls had way too much fun decorating the gingerbread - but I guess that's the point, right? :)

Sarah, being her usual charming self!

We had so much fun, and then later that night all went out together. Such a great way to spend a Saturday! :)
The next day dad put the finishing touches on his Christmas village (a yearly tradition since I can remember), and I just have to share some detail shots because he puts so much effort into it and it gets cuter (and bigger) every year!

And then I turned around to see Dante, my little monkey dog, sitting on the back of a couch and watching the cars go by, as if waiting for Santa! :)

I'll be back soon with the rest of the Christmas madness!

Maybe next year I can exchange with you some cookies for some tamales!
