A Time For Learning
Friday, June 12, 2009 at 09:03PM Tomorrow my mom and I are attending the Creating Keepsakes Convention up in Pasadena. I'm super excited not only because we've got tickets to the vendor fair (keep your fingers crossed that we win a door prize or five), but mainly because I convinced her to take a digital SLR photography basics class with me. Now maybe she'll stop making me change the settings for her. ;)
The class is taught by Erin Manning, who I hadn't heard of before, but after a quick Google search decided I already love her clean and simple approach. Even though I've been at this photography thing for a couple of years now (a year and a half of that with my cherished dSLR), there's of course miles and miles of room for improvement. Any chance I can get to further my self-education, I'll take. Plus the class was only $15! You can't beat that with a tree!
And speaking of photography education, Jodi over at the MCP actions blog posted this wonderful article about her progression as a photographer and shares what's in her camera bag. Makes me think there might be hope. :)
So this week has been insane from the start - most of Sunday was spent at Disneyland (hope to have photos up by this weekend, maybe...) where Nikki, Katie, Mindy, Sean and I had an awesome time. We probably walked about 5 miles all told. I didn't even think about it until I got up from the dinner table Monday night. Ouch! Hurts so good. :) Monday morning I was out the door by 6:30 in order to get up to Pasadena for a negotiations meeting that went all day, and then came home in time to pick up some Lucille's as a surprise for Lars' 19th birthday. It was his girlfriend's Sarah's birthday the next day (Yup, same year, one day apart. Sickeningly sweet, I know), so we were celebrating hers too!

(And yes, her skin really is that awesome. We try not to hold that against her.) He got some awesome gifts, I must say...

Gee, which one do you think was his favorite?
Mom made her amazing chocolate cake, which is so rich but so good.

Ready? On three!

After giant pieces of cake,

his buddies came over to hang out and we got out of their way. :)
Tuesday night I got to see my lovely friend Melissa now that her insane semester of grad school finally finished. Always love a good therapy session with her! :) Yesterday I had a 14-hour day (counting commute time up to Pasadena) back at the negotiation table. Fun. Then I hauled my butt out last night to try and see my friends' awesome band The Drag play, but the bar they were supposed to play at had a pipe blow and flood! At least we hung out for a bit. Tonight I'm staying in and going to bed early enjoying dad's famous Lemon Drops, and no one can stop me! Mwahahaha!
Anybody else have fun plans this weekend?
