Not A Resolution

I'm not the type of girl to make firm resolutions of the traditional kind, but that doesn't mean I don't have goals or plans for the future. It just so happens to coincide with the start of a new year. :)

I finally feel like the rebuilding stage of my life - picking up the pieces after everything fell apart in 2008 - is complete. Well, as complete as it can be, anway. This year was really full of growth. Growth in my photography, growth in relationships, growth in love, growth in maturity. For 2011, I plan on DOING THINGS. Lots will be happening!

I'm not cool enough to think of 28 Before 29 like Elsie or 11 Things I am Giving Up in 2011 like Kristine, but here's what's been brewing in my noggin, beyond all the business goals (which have been on my mind practically 24/7). {And I promise to never use the word noggin again. It's just weird.}

~ A padded headboard. I've been wanting to do this for a couple years, but they're incredibly expensive to buy outright. And then I stumbled upon this Ikea hack, which happens to be for the exact bed frame I have. Eventually I'd like to get a new bed, because this one has been with me through several moves since 2003, but until I can afford it this is the perfect solution for sitting up late and reading!

~ Downsize my storage unit. It's time. There's some things definitely worth saving, but I'm pretty sure once my parents take back what they put in there and I clear out a few things, I can fit into the next size down and save a bit of moola. (On that note, anybody want a Billy bookcase for cheap? It has glass doors!)

~ Get Dante's teeth cleaned. I admit it, I'm a bad mama on this one. It's been over a year since he's had a deep teeth cleaning and he's way overdue. Cost can no longer be an excuse! I want to start fresh and work on getting him okay with me brushing them, too.

~ Travel for real. Like, with a plane ticket. Road trips are wonderful, but the idea of planning hotels and plane schedules and all that thrills me! I'd love to visit Portland or Seattle, or maybe New York if it's in the budget.

~ Clear out old/junk jewelry. My parents gave me a lovely, gigantic jewelry box/trunk for Christmas and before I get started using it, I figure it's the perfect time to clear out the stuff I just don't wear anymore, or never really liked! And I refuse to feel any guilt if they were gifts, either, goshdarnit.

~ Frame the awesome Etsy prints I have. It's ridiculous that they've been sitting propped up in my room instead of lovingly framed and hung in the office. Besides, Aaron Brothers is having their penny sale right now!

Oh, and have a wonderful New Years! Mr. Same Same and I have tickets to the NYE event at the Comedy Store in Hollywood, so excited!

I'm glad I could help inspire you! I love your plans, they all sound like a lot of fun. Well, except the teeth cleaning one, that just sucks, even if it is necessary. I can't wait to read all about how you accomplish these goals.

One of my new year's goals is to get my iggy's teeth cleaned as well. Then to start brushing them regularly again. I used to brush her teeth every day, but I got out of the habit. So when I get my New Year bonus in February, I'm cleaning those teeth!
