About Me

An avid people & pet photographer, this blog is an easier way to share stories and photos with family and friends that are scattered across the globe. I'm a blonde who finally went back to her natural color after years of being a redhead. I'm in love with photography, reading, movies, live music, history and my Italian Greyhound Dante. Born in Norway, I've been living in SoCal since I was five. {Photo by Nancy Orozco}

Lately

Due to a random cold deciding to attack me this week, I unfortunately don't yet have photos from this past Sunday's journey up to Solvang & Santa Ynez. But I have been keeping up with Project 365 so I thought I'd share what's been drawing my attention lately...

I found this edition of Jane Austen's major works when I was at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago and couldn't resist. Isn't it gorgeous? I'm looking forward to re-reading everything...and that giant tome will maybe tone up my arms a bit! :)

Somebody sent the bossman these lovely cookies - does anyone else think that's slightly inappropriate/weird? Especially for a company in the construction industry? So I took care of the awkwardness for him (they were delish).

I actually did some real shopping this past Saturday, and was super happy when Nikki met up with me. We had lunch at the food court at the mall - I felt like I was sixteen again!

That same day Eirik came over to be mom's hands in the garden (she's recovering nicely, but that much activity isn't allowed yet!), and showed us how Sprocket's big boy teeth have grown in - with an extra set of canines!

The vet says it's fine, they can stay since all the other teeth have grown in fine too. Weird, right? No wonder teething was so hard on the poor guy.

Our road trip Sunday was absolutely magical - you couldn't have asked for more perfect weather! The only problem was I forgot my extra compact flash card and only had the 2GB one in. I could have killed myself!! I spent half the afternoon trying to delete as much as possible so I had room for all the gorgeous spots we kept finding to shoot in.

Coming down the 101 on the way home, we stopped at an especially beautiful vista point near Santa Barbara that overlooks the ocean and an awesome old school bridge. We hiked over where you're probably not supposed to go (as there are train tracks in the way and no clear trail), but it was totally worth it. I was shooting away in the lovely light, when Mindy said "Hey, look, a ladybug."

It's not perfectly in focus (dang wind kept blowing and moving the grass!), but its one of my favorite shots from that day. :)

At one point during that day we visited an organic lavender farm and took a bunch of photos, but not without buying some things first and making friends with the owner. She was so sweet! I put the bunch of dried lavender in the office so mom and I could enjoy the scent and sight of it:

I'll be back this weekend after the Faded & Blurred photo walk at the Getty! Here's hoping it doesn't rain too terribly.

OMG Trude!

I love the photos of the lady bug/tall grass and lavender, I think I need to get prints of them and hang them in my vanity. ;)

Pretty photos!!
Aww, poor little guy! Jolene had that same problem - an extra set of canines; they were like fangs!
Have a wonderful weekend Trude! xo

You have so much talent and I am supremely Jealous (yes! with a capital j)

I just started a photography course... eek! I just don't "get" some of the technical stuff... and sadly - I'll never learn "creativity".
