About Me

An avid people & pet photographer, this blog is an easier way to share stories and photos with family and friends that are scattered across the globe. I'm a blonde who finally went back to her natural color after years of being a redhead. I'm in love with photography, reading, movies, live music, history and my Italian Greyhound Dante. Born in Norway, I've been living in SoCal since I was five. {Photo by Nancy Orozco}

Seriously, June?

I really can't believe it's June already! And how on earth did I manage to go more than a week without blogging? At least part of the time warp was due to some kind of flu that took me down starting Wednesday afternoon. I came straight home that night instead of going to my photography class to sleep, made it an hour at work Thursday morning and was down for the count until Friday night. I can't remember the last time I was sick like that - fever, body aches, sore throat, the whole nine yards. Ick.

Where was I before my poor-me gibberish? Ah yes, catching up.

The weekend before last was lovely and nicely low-key. Jenny's party was so nice and Mr. Same Same distinguished himself in mingling really well with the family. :)

Had to get a shot of the happy graduate with her parents, of course!

It was so awesome hanging out with my cousins and Sunday was spent almost entirely in our PJs. Awesome.

Besides the illness, last week was fairly quiet, as the boy and I didn't have any mid-week plans like we've been doing the last couple weeks. My highlight was getting this shot of Dante that just might be my all-time favorite:

He just happened to sit in the right spot near the living room window with the last light of day coming through. :)

Oh, and in totally unrelated news, those stargazers Mr. Same Same brought me a few weeks back? They bloomed beautifully for at least a week, the smell was heavenly:

So awesome.

Needless to say, I was determined to enjoy the long holiday weekend despite any illness, as the boy and I had plans to do practically nothing. Very important not to miss that! The one thing we did do was attend the Pasadena Rock'n Comic Con on Saturday. I don't know how "Rock'n" it really was, but we had a decent time. It was mostly business for Mr. Same Same, meeting up with colleagues and making new connections. Our biggest complaint was the complete disorganization; they were changing panel times and room numbers all day long. (Although, to their credit, it was their first year.)

Sunday was spent catching up on movies and generally relaxing - heavenly! On Monday the boy's roommate arrived back from Balticon, which was also this weekend, and the boys and I were joined by Nikki and spent the day attempting to match witticisms, consuming delicious food and playing some old school Super Nintendo games.

Talk about awesome overload. What a fantastic day!

In other news, Caroline has finally blogged her shots from the photo swap we had back around Christmas! And in case you missed it, my version is right here. I think these are my two faves:

Love her work so much, don't you?

Also, I got a mention over at one of my fave blogs, Modish! Jena had originally done this wonderful post that really touched on a lot of how I feel about eating/being healthy. I'm super glad that she put together a follow-up that summarized everyone's best tips, and she included mine about having a dog to keep you motivated to get out and walk! :)

Soooo what have you guys been up to lately?

xo

Sorry you were sick :( I love those photos from the photo swap - SO pretty! Also that shot of Dante is pretty amazing! Oh, and the lilies are gorgeous! I just had a florist tell me to pull the stamen out when they start to open up and it will double the life of the lily; I never knew that. Have a fabulous weekend!! xoxo
