Flying By
Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 06:53PM These past couple of weeks have been absolutely insane, both at work and at home! We had Sarah's bridal shower the weekend before last (which I'll do a nice long blog about, sooner rather than later) and it was a great success! Such a lovely group of women, and it was really wonderful to get to know Jim's family.

We didn't really do any games, but we did do a wordsearch challenge for a prize, which Jim's sister won! :)
The next day I was up at an ungodly hour to take Mr. Same Same to the airport, then it was back home to work on photos and enjoy more time with Roger and Keiko. It hasn't been warm enough at night to be comfortable out on the patio until recently, and we took full advantage by having a BBQ dinner.

I've got to hand it to my dad, his addiction to string lights does make for a pretty picture. :)
Wednesday night Mr. Same Same and I went to a screening of The People vs. George Lucas, which was part of the LA Film Festival. The documentary was pretty good and it was fun to bond with fellow fans.

The screening was at the Ford Amphitheater, which was one of the coolest venues I've ever been to (even if it was a huge pain to get to and park). Beyond the stage are the Hollywood Hills! Built-in background. So cool.
Then Thursday I was off down to San Diego to meet up with Jim and Sarah for their big day! More photos to come, of course, but have to share one of my favorites of the day.

Jim typically never takes his sunglasses off and isn't very comfortable in front of the camera, so I have to hand it to him for going along with us and rocking it out! Doesn't he look good? :)
We couldn't have asked for better weather and everything went perfectly. They had their ceremony outside the county administration building under an arbor covered in bougainvillea. It was absolutely beautiful, lasted all of ten minutes and I was doing everything possible not to cry! After that we headed to the historic Hotel Del Coronado where they had treated themselves to an ocean view room for their wedding night to shoot more photos around the hotel and on the beach. It was truly a perfect day!
I had to drive back that night to go to work the next day (we're in the middle of negotiations and our busy season), and then came back down with the boy late Friday afternoon for their reception at the country club near my uncle's house in Rancho Bernardo. Once again it was just perfect - delicious food and a nice intimate group of awesome people. I took just a few photos, as I was more interested in catching up with everyone! :)
But I did catch this one of mom's traditional Norwegian wedding cake made out of kransekake (it's like baked marsipan). Apparently it started out perfect and got a little jostled on the drive down. I think I love it even more looking tipsy:

Don't you?
Since then I've been spending time with the boy and also my auntie Elissa who flew out for the wedding and came back to my parent's house with them on Sunday to spend the remainder of her trip with us. It's been a whirlwind and I'm exhausted, but so happy that everything turned out well! Sarah and Jim left on Sunday for a three week honeymoon in Europe. (Not jealous, nooooo....)
Tonight I'm off and running some more! Hope to be back soon for lots and lots of photo sharing.
